Soft modding my Wii was probably one of the best things I've done with the console in years! Recently I've been using my modded Wii to back up all of my physical discs including my Gamecube games. Since the console itself can be such a pain to hook up, it's nice to have all of my games in one place.
Plus, Dolphin as turned out to be an incredible emulator for both the Wii and the Gamecube. It's super nice to be able to play something like Skyward Sword with a controller (made even better if it has gyro features), and having the ability to use HD or even 4k texture packs!!
It certainly has revitalized my interest in the Wii :)
