yeah, it would be years before I would find out that the numbering was changed for the sake of the western audience. One of my more dedicated friends got his hands on the Japanese copies of the games and actually learned to play the game in Japanese, which is a language he doesn't speak. This was a level of dedication to the Final Fantasy empire that is well beyond my own. :)
