I am not a gamer; however I would say the following:
The graphical games of yesteryear were optimized for Windows. However, I suspect that the future of gaming will be driven by the machine's ability to interact with networks and blockchains. Linux does a much better job at interacting with networks than windows. So, I expect to see dedicated gamers moving to linux for the networking abilities.
