Traditionally December has been a month for Christmas parties and any excuse to go out and have a right old good time.
Not that we need any excuse of course!
Last week we went eating out a couple of times, and as I do, I took some pictures.
So imagine my delight this morning when I landed on a post from @shawnnft in the Eating Out community!
On Friday afternoon we decided to have a bite to eat and a drink.
As you can see we decided to have a late lunch at The Caledonian hotel.
It is situated on the High Street in Fife coastal town of Leven just up the coast from us.
It is now part of the Greene King brewery chain of pubs/restaurants and hotels and has top quality food. The ingredients are normally excellent.
Did you read the blackboard ...
COUNT DOWN TO GOOD TIMES
That is them advertising Hogmanay. What do you call New Year's Eve?
Being Christmas and a Friday I was not sure how busy it would be.
We good a good booth table and timed it right as there were some parties coming in about 4, so we had two hours to enjoy ourself.
We ordered and the drinks came first.
As you can see from the receipt at the end of the meal, my pint of Level Head cost £5.25 (about $6.70) and Mrs T's Hendrick's gin and Schweppes tonic came to £5.09 (about $6.50)
I forgot to ask for a tall glass, neither of us are fans of goblets for drinking gin. I feel they just flood the glass with ice! Bring the alcohol I say.
I did write a Beer Saturday post at the weekend about the beer which you can read if you are so inclined ... Loving my Level Head in Leven 🏴 on Beer 🍺 Saturday
The Food!
I did say in the post title ... Double Steak Delight.
First up was my Gammon Steak. I love gammon and I love this gammon dish for a couple of reasons.
Normally you get a pineapple ring on your gammon or a fried egg.
This gammon which was thick and a proper steak had a beautifully cooked fried egg AND a Pineapple Wedge!
Seriously fluffing awesome!
Mrs T fancied a steak, so opted for an 8 oz Rump Steak.
It came with onion rings, a grilled tomato and a beautiful salad. The gravy you will see from the menu cost us £1.49. The waitresses have been well trained in upselling!
Photos over, it was time to eat!
First up was to spread that garlic butter over the steak.
The steak was cooked to perfection.
Mrs T asked for medium, I suggested you change it to medium-rare as most places now overcook steaks.
What do you think, it was cooked pretty much to perfection!
Before long it was all gone!
The Bill
As you can see the meal came to £38.61 ($50) and we were full. Not only was the food of the highest quality it was very filling!
In this day and age you are hard pressed to get a meal with a couple of drinks for 50 pounds let alone 50 dollars.
I loved it and would recommend going to The Caledonian Hotel if ever you are in Leven or Fife for that matter.
The Snug
Many bars in Scotland used to have a small room next to the main bar, this would be called.
I was glad to see the Hotel had their version of The Snug on the way to the back entrance.
Christmas
Yes they had a pretty Christmas tree!
Actually the bar was tastefully decorated, it was not in your face, but had a great Christmas vibe.
My Eating Out contest entry!
As I mentioned at the beginning of the post I saw a post from @shawnnft , so this post is an entry to the December Eating Out Challenge - Eating Out With A Bang (5000 Ecency Points & 25 HBD Prizepool)
I hope I have completed all the requirements!
Have you been eating out for Christmas or the holidays this month?
Now I need a coffee and to clean the dishes. Then it will be time to get some trades set up!
Have you got any plans for Sunday, or is Monday already with you?
Thanks for visiting and have a wonderful new week!

Mrs. T's food looks delicious and juicy!!! This time of the year is perfect for eating out and having a different time. Around here all the places are already decorated and offering their Christmas menu. Enjoy your meal, my friend. Regards
Yes I can imagine chilling out down there at a beach cafe, beer in hand, eating some steak and squid, listening to you regale some stories my friend, thank you 💙
Those steaks look super tasty, although I must say that I am not a fan of medium steak, I will prefer the rubbery well-done cooking for steak. and it is super expensive around here. !LOLZ

You like rubbery steak Eka,just like my brother!
Yeah it was super tasty and I am pretty sure they would cook it the way you like it. It is usually the most expensive dish on a menu, but when it is cooked right and a good piece of meat then it is worth it!

So yummy amd delicious ,im salivating already.
hehe it really was!
Dang, I went out to eat last night and it was something like $60. My wife got a grilled chicken wrap and two drinks and I got a burger and two beers. I guess I don't really know the conversion rate... The steak looks great. I'm guessing the other was like a pork chop?
The gammon steak is more like ham than a pork chop. Right enough I never had in the States. Yeah $60 is about £47 so a bit more expensive than what we had.
Saturday was a burger and grilled chicken burger, so almost the meal you had!
Ah, that makes sense. I used to get ham steak and eggs for breakfast all the time, so I get what you are saying.
Yeah ham steak, that is the sort of thing, but it was a thick cut, and really melted in your mouth.
The stake looks so tender my mouth is watering.
It was quality meat and really was as tender as it looks! Thanks Evita and enjoy the rest of your day.
I just saw this.
I love steak haha and yes they are right medium rare! I also go medium rare when I eat steak. Place looks good kinda homey comfort feels. Thanks for sharing and participating! Will add you to my list on entries. I'm not sure if there's a more efficient way to do this but gonna load up hive usernames on excel then copy to a wheel generator to give out the rewards
Looks like you ate well there Ed! I havent see a Gammon steak in ages!
