After successfully completing a market test for a new food product yesterday, I had nothing planned for today and enjoyed gardening in the morning. Yey!
I removed the netting for the vines, which had become worn out. The photo on top. It got a little cleaner, right? The photo below is how it looked like a little while ago. I will install a new one when I plant bitter melon in May.
I wrote in a previous garden journal about perennials and trees starting to sprout, and I saw tulip buds and felt that spring is slowly coming to my micro balcony 😊
The highlight of the day was this: transplanting a pepper called Charapita, which is said to be the most expensive pepper in the world. I had been frustrated this season because I could not get the peppers to germinate properly... This time I put the seeds in a ceramic dish with soil on a heat mat and they germinated 🥳 I am especially relieved because I wanted to grow Charapita well.
It was warm, so I transplanted them into pots outside with a cup of coffee. How nice it was! I'm going to take it to my office window sill because it might fall over if I leave it at home with active family 😅
Talking about transplanting, I also transplanted the rosemary branches I brought from a container in the community garden. This one will be kept in a somewhat darker entryway until it roots. Rosemary can sometimes survive the winter outside, but in our balcony environment, it seems better to keep it inside for the winter, so I will try to grow it in a pot this year.
The picture is blurry, but I also planted some sugar snap peas that I sprouted in the kitchen. They are not only for the beans, but also the sprouts called peashoots are edible. I learned this from some of my favorite gardeners on YouTube.
The curly peashoots look good when used in salads and sandwiches.
I started writing note on photos where I planted what, but I thought it would be good to have a marker too, so I bought a batch of coffee muddlers.
Since I don't have a full schedule for the next few days, I'm going to do some research and test on growing microgreens. I just received a lot of seed mix packs. I'm getting excited just by seeing them 😁
I also received a gardening and cooking book by Huw Richards and Sam Cooper. I like gardening videos by Hew on YouTube and cooking photos and videos by Sam on Instagram. I am looking forward to reading it.
Oh... and I need to sow tomato seeds!

昨日無事新しく作っている食品のマーケットテストを終えて、今日は何も予定がなく、朝からガーデニングを楽しみました。
蔓性の植物用のネットがずいぶんふるくなっていたので取り除きました。冒頭の写真、少しすっきりしていませんか？なんて。ちょっと前の様子はこんな。ゴーヤを植える時期になったら新しく張り替えようと思います。
多年草や木の芽が出始めたことは以前のガーデンジャーナルに書きましたが、チューリップのつぼみをみつけて、マイクロバルコニーにもゆっくり春が訪れているのを感じました。
今日のハイライトはこれ、世界一高価ともいわれるCharapitaと呼ばれる唐辛子の移植です。今シーズンはうまく唐辛子を発芽させられずにやきもきしていましたが、ヒートマットの上に土を入れた陶器の鉢受けを置いてそこに種をまいたら発芽してくれました。特にCharapitaはしっかり育てたかったのでほっと一息です。
暖かかったので外でコーヒー片手にポットに移植しました。家に置いておくと転倒する可能性があるので、オフィスの窓辺に持って行こうと思います。
移植といえば、コミュニティガーデンのコンテナから持ってきたローズマリーの枝も水揚げを終えて移植しました。こちらは発根するまでやや暗めの玄関で管理します。ローズマリーは冬を外で越せることもあるのですが、うちのバルコニーの環境では冬は屋内に入れた方がよさそうで、今年は鉢で育ててみようと思います。
写真がボケてしまったのですが、台所で発芽させたグリーンピースも植えました。グリーンピースは鞘に入った豆だけでなく、ピーシュートと呼ばれる芽の部分も食べられるのです。YouTubeで気に入っているガーデナーの方々がハングリーギャップのこの時期におすすめと紹介していて私も食べるようになりました。
特にくるくるぴよっとしたさきっぽは、サラダやサンドイッチに使うとおしゃれなのです。
写真に書く方法もいいですが、やっぱりマーカーがあったほうがいいなと思い、コーヒーのマドラーをまとめて買いました。
向こう数日は予定が詰まっていないので、マイクログリーンの研究をしようと思っています。種苗店からいっぱい種のミックスが届いてテンションが上がっています。
YouTubeでよく動画を見るHuw Richardさんと料理人のSam Cooperさんのガーデニング＆料理の本も届き、これを読み込むのも楽しみです。

Hi. I would like to recommend you one thing regarding the rosemary cuttings. Leave only around 5 leaves on the top. It is enough for the plant to secure nutrients through photosynthesis. The plant will direct the energy mainly to the roots then which is what it and you need at this moment.
