Okay, I've probably hit old age now... where I get super excited about new garden tools! During the recent Amazon Prime sales, I was hunting around for some presents for nieces and nephews and to do the usual stockpile of gifts for the random kids parties that keep popping up... and this pair of Bahco garden tools popper up! I swear I wasn't searching for it... or maybe I was, I can't remember.
Anyway, my father-in-law had a really handy fold out pocket saw that he had around when he was clearing out our garden, and I remember it being crazily good and handy! It was similar to the curved Wolff saw that I have, which is one of my favourite garden tools, except that it was smaller and perfect for small cutting and pruning jobs.
During the clear out of the shrubs, he had lost it somewhere in the garden or on a green-waste run, and I had bought a nice new one in the same brand for him to replace it. But I was thinking about how nice it would be to have one for myself!
... and I had held off until this month! I was that this Bahco brand... which is a super good brand of garden equipment, was on sale... and I immediately added it to the cart and pressed buy! But I would have to wait a couple of weeks, as it was coming from the United States... weird globalisation of trade!
And when it arrived, it appeared that I was so fixated on the folding saw... that I didn't realise that it had come with a knife as well! Well, I did remember seeing the sheath when I was buying it... but I had weirdly assumed that the sheath was for the folding saw!
And so, now I have these two very nice pieces of garden equipment! I'm not really sure that I will use the knife much... perhaps that I will just stay indoors as a weird little thing for opening hard to open packets from the #silvergoldstackers community... but the saw, wow... it is just as good as I had expected!
Both tools are not heavy at all, but they still feel sturdy in your hand... the knife, well not that fussed... but it has a good blade on it, and it looks that already has a decent cutting edge to it... it isn't razor sharp, but I don't think that is what it needs to be for garden work. But it is still sharp enough to slice down through a sheet of paper!
The saw on the other hand... great teeth, and I should make sure that I keep this one oiled as well. I got a bit lazy with the Wolff one, and it is a bit rusted now... nothing that can't be fixed with a little scrub with steel wool and a new coat of oil... when I get around to it. The only worry about the saw is the strength of the hinge over time, but I'm pretty sure that this will be fairly sturdy.... unlike the single piece Wolff saw, this hinge does introduce a single point of stress and weakness, but I do trust the Bahco brand to know what they are doing!
So, a happy little gardener... ready to start cutting and sawing things! Mostly in the garden...

Yeh that's what J figured too XD And one of my friends when they got excited about laundry hacks/techniques.
Okay... but laundry hacks are pretty awesome though!
From the packet they both look like military issued equipment 😂😂😂✨
Haha... yes, it could look like that! I'm now a certified combat gardener...
Interesting. Been looking for a small pruning saw blade with a sheath like that small knife has. Folding saws are more common.
That is what I thought that I was buying! A saw blade with a sheath!
Very nice! Yes, you are an old garden geek now! Huzzah!
PS put a long bright cord on them so they can't be lost!
