Now that the vibrant yellows and oranges of the wattles, daffodils, and tulips have died down... it is now the turn of the slightly muted colours of the next batch of bloomers to start appearing. It is quite a strange sight, to see different parts of the garden starting to show colour in different weeks as each little bush and plant takes centre stage for a little bit!
Along the outskirts are these Australian natives... with the strange little flowers. Some are bushes, and others are ground covers, but all have these unusual shapes and the same muted reddish and pink colours. A nice change from the bright yellows that left pollen all over our white cars!

Meanwhile, the Kangaroo Paws are also out... I have to think about whether or not to prune them back this time... last year, we had some in pots, and after pruning... they died horribly! These are in the ground... and I'm wondering if I should just let them do what they do without me interrupting!

One of the vicious razor sharp needle plants has broken out in this muted yellow spray as well... less vibrant than the wattles and bulbs, but it is a nice contrast to the current batch of reds that we are mostly seeing around the garden! My wife still thinks that this should go... and I do curse it every time I go to prune it back... even thick landscaping gloves don't always protect me... but they do make nice flowers!

... and some of the pots that were repopulated after the Kangaroo Paw slaughter have also sprung up into the dominant colours of this last week's garden! Again, I'm wondering if I should shape this a bit after it has finished blooming so that it isn't spraying everywhere, but making better tighter use of the pot space?

... and finally, not blooms... but these bushes that we planted when we moved in... after a couple of years, are growing strongly and healthily... hopefully they will provide a screen for the front room eventually... They are great here, but a few metres down, they aren't doing quite so well... not entirely sure what the difference is! Same facing... similar soil... who knows! I'm also quite amazed by how glossy these leaves are too!

Even after all these decades on the planet, it's still pretty amazing to me how while everything is dying off here, you are going through Spring over there and things are popping to life.
Nice photos, greetings.
Your garden sounds so pretty with all the colorful flowers. I like how you take care of them and notice every small change. It must be nice to see new blooms growing each week. Gardening really makes a place feel alive.
