Although gardening season is long over for us, yesterday we had an unusual event that warranted a trip outside:
That yellow round thing in the sky was suddenly visible, adding light to our typically gray world!
It seemed like a perfect sign, on the eve of the Winter Solstice.
Our lichen and moss covered bird feeder
I was really just trying to take a couple of pictures of the bird feeder, with the frayed prayer flags around the garden as a backdrop, but the camera in my iPad decided to take matters into its own hands...
... and took a couple of very artful shots, by itself, while I was trying to find the right angle for the shots I wanted.
Light and prayer flag with horse...
In both the image above, as well as the one below, the table with our little laughing dragon somehow ended up as an out of focus focal point.
The Universe works in mysterious ways!
Decay... the tattered remnants of prayers past
Here, the newer prayer flags in the background catch the late afternoon sun, as seen though the fading pattern of a much older prayer flag panel.
Layers of prayer flags
Through the gap between the flags, the Laughing Dragon garden sleeps quietly.
Garden and flags
Not as artsy; just flags and "proof of sunshine!"
Prayer flags in the afternoon sun
The autumn storms have clearly played around with the bamboo chimes hanging from the apple tree! We keep the chimes up all year because the sound seems to "cleanse" the air around the garden.
Need to get after that blackberry by the fence. Keeping the blackberry vines under control is almost a full-time job, in and of itself!
Bamboo chimes in the sun
Suddenly there was movement in the stillness, and a small friend came to visit... in a sense, serving as a reminder that nature is never really asleep!
There is always something happening; changing; growing.
Hello!
And so, I will end here with wishing all a happy Solstice, and all the best for you and yours during the Holiday Season!
Thanks for stopping by and looking!
(As always, all photos are my own!)
