No, I'd never heard of the blue-banded bee. Interesting! Apparently, they build solitary nests and tunnels in sandstone and mud-brick buildings.
Our nearest neighbour keeps bees, so our garden is always alive with them. No pesticides here, and I make my own fertilisers from onion peels and comfrey!
