Sorry to hear about the hip. I remember bawling a few times when I suffered a herniated disc 25 years ago, with pain constantly shooting down my leg. I hope the ortho gets his finger out!

"gets his finger out* is one of my Dad's expressions. As in, pull your finger out. Something I never questioned until one day I wondered where the finger actually was.
Oh my goodness, it was also one of my father's expressions. He once sent an order for a Bazooka Joe T-shirt for my brother with a note saying, "get your finger out, I needed it yesterday". The Bazooka Joe people returned his cheque with a note saying....and I know this off by heart...'When you can communicate with us in a polite and reasonable manner, we will process your order. In the meantime, we are returning your cheque.'
Omfg that's a great story and well played by them. It's one thing to say it to your lazy ass kids and another to say yo people who... Well, might not appreciate the sentiment, however well intended.
