Outside the wind is howling, the temperature is a cool 9 degrees and the rain is pelting down, but inside THE DOME it's like the Bahamas. The mercury is hitting 25 Celcius and the plants love it.
Well, it’s either that, the wonders of the copper coils or my consummate gardening skills. I mean, I ask you, where have you seen better-looking chard and lettuce than this?
And would you look at the head on that cabbage?

I have the beds ready to transplant the cucumber and melon seedlings, all coming along nicely. I'm growing Suyo Long, Miniature White, Crystal Apple and Marketmore cucumbers, together with Petit Gris de Rennes and Minnesota Midget melons. Our fig tree, grapes strawberries and gooseberries also do well in the heat and weather be damned I'm expecting a bumper crop this year.
It’s been raining here since last July and it seems there’s no end to it. The ground is completely sodden, the farmers are complaining that they can’t put the cattle out and silage is in short supply, and I’ve been unable to plant anything outside yet save a few onions, though they’ll likely drown. I remember this time last year, with the sun on my back, I had a hundred onions down along with my potatoes.
Following the tragic collapse of my homemade pea frame last year, I've invested in a more professional construction …made in China.
The peas are ready to rock but with storm Kathleen due to arrive on Sunday with 100 kmph winds forecast, I’ll be lucky if the frame survives.
My chicken enclosure was uprooted and dumped into the bushes one tempestuous July a few years ago by 80kmph winds.

And what of my petulant parsley and cantankerous cucamelons that refuse point blank to germinate? Well with hundreds of parsley seeds in the pack, I can try try again, but with, would you believe 9, yes nine cucamelon seeds in the packet, I'll either have to admit failure or simply buy some more and pretend they're my first attempt. If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried... Surely a perfect maxim to live by.🙃

I want this dome. I have nowhere to put this dome. erg. So jealous!
I hope the storm passes you right by, and you have a bumper crop of peas!
Indeed, sure aren't those weather forecasters always wrong! As for the peas, let's see if the frame survives.
I have a good feeling about that Chinese frame.
Lucky for me, and because I plant so little of everything, I can always find a length of sturdy chain link fence for my peas. Love those buggers. This year I'm only doing snow peas though.
I'm growing 5 different varieties but not snow peas. I had frozen peas until January and I'm determined to do even better this year...if it ever stope raining.
Did the frame survive the storm?
It survived...so far. We have another storm raging outside now.
Thankyou for your entry in the Garden Journal challenge!
I hope that storm passes you right by! Love the dome! So jealous! I had no idea you did this much every year. -owasco

Hahaha, I don't think you're looking closely enough!
The winds have been terrible here in NY as well. Your plants look quite happy in the dome greenhouse. Great job!
Thanks! I'm quite happy I can garden in the warmth while the winds howl and the rain lashes down outside.
Wow, I like that dome of yours, I am it is perfect for a greenshouse.
I'm really quite fond of it myself! Stick in a little bathroom and kitchen and sure I could move in there:)
Indeed (^_^)
Your plants are looking very healthy
I hope your cucamelons grow the next time you want to plant them
I'll beat them into submission if it's the last thing I do!:)
Ohh I nearly miss this post! Yes Your chard is looking really good and healthy! you have been secretly keeping your gardening skills to yourself. 😊 And gosh, those frames all fell off. But your stylish greenhouse looks amazing! I have not seen one like that around here. I love it. x
The plants are really looking good and growing healthy. I think one of the things that helped them to grow is that they favourable conditions.
Thanks!
The thing is that you are working very hard in this garden which the green man grows himself, it is known that its quality is good and it will be very good for our health also here in our country. People are doing all these work with great effort in the same way.
