I have been thinking about that title for a month or so. My amaranth is flourishing but am I? It has been going through my head endlessly. Is this what I was aiming for with my life? But then the garden pulls me back to reality, showing me how even the amaranth is flourishing in the summer heat that tries to burn everything to a crisp.
Even though I have not yet posted any new garden updates, I have been gardening very actively. My wild rocket is all flowering, making so many new seed pods it is unheard of.
My amaranth is flourishing, as the title suggests, and I am questioning whether I am myself flourishing as well.
But in the summer heat, the poor Swiss chard is not doing so well. In fact, I am fearing that I might lose some of them. I am hoping that they will go to seed, but I am yet to see any signs.
Elsewhere, the avocados are looking healthy and like it will once again be a good season. Some of the younger trees around the garden is not carrying any fruit, maybe they will get some fruit next year.
And I am also surprised that some of my cuttings have made it through the intense summer heat. I have tried to move them to a part of the garden where there is more shade, and this really helped.
Something magical is happening to the garden. So many unplanted or unplanned seedlings are popping up. Technically, all of these are weeds, as I did not plant them and I did not plan for them to pop up. But here they are now! From the left, we have a couple of Lemon tree seedlings, then in the middle, there is some beautiful basil cuttings I made from basil plants that came up, and then on the right, there is some swiss chard that also just popped up! Because they get early morning sun, they are doing much better than the other swiss chard...
In my previous posts, I shared my journey to grow some peppers, and see just how big they got! Also here, on the left, between the pepper plants, there is some sort of melon or cucumber or pumpkin growing. I have never been able to grow them, but it seems to be doing well, for now at least.
And then there is my big project... I have been systematically taking out the grass of a piece of lawn, and planting it where the other lawns have died. In the place of the grass, I am also planting more pepper seedlings, or full grown plants by now, and I am also making a small pathway. I thought it would go quicker, but it has gone so slow...
But good things take time.
And in the process of this all, I have actually come to realise that I am flourishing. It is not just my amaranth that is growing, but myself as well. Even though it does not feel like it at all.
I hope that your garden is providing you with new growth and wisdom.
For now, happy gardening!
All of the musings and writings are my own. The photographs are also my own.
It's amazing how the heat and sun of summer can damage plants, and often moving them to a shady spot helps a lot. As for weeds, they're stronger than hate; I wish all plants were like that. Finally, I'm glad you realize that you too are blossoming. I know you'll keep going and face all the challenges that lie ahead.
Wow that amazing and very lusting.
The green colour is really bright and clear.
That plants is happy and very healthy
