Today I measured my #cannabis plant. The largest of my plants that I started from seeds in the greenhouse before the frost was over in late March. The plant is around 5 feet tall already! From growing in the past I have found that larger plants with solid vegetation tend to produce larger bud sites. The plant grows so aggressively that I thought it was a male. But, it's been long enough that you can tell it's a female. I'm going to try and take some clones, but I need a better indoor setup.
For some strange reason, the plant was falling over like the leaning tower of pizza. I had to prop the stem up with some large rocks. It's like the entire root ball was rotating from the soil being so loose or something. Very strange, but after I propped the plant up, things seem to be fine. I think this plant would fly away like Peter Pan if I didn't keep adding dirt and pine chips to the coil. What a beast. Maybe the plant was trying to follow the sunset? Two large rocks fixed the cannabis scoliosis.
Taming the beast. The plant is really large and some of the side branches already look like plant tops! One of the branches was already getting too heavy for it's own good and had to be tied up. I've had this problem a few times: Once I used string and that made a rip in the plant stem so I switched to electrical tape the next time. The good news is that when a branch starts to tear up and you catch it early, it almost always grows back without getting damaged. Better safe than sorry!
Ever since I read about how mulch helps the soil temps during summer heat, I've been spreading pine chips around the base of each plant. I'm going to invest in some fish fertilizer because this bad girl definitely needs a spanking ... I mean ... some more nitrogen. It's also been overwatered. It's at the bottom of the garden. That's another reason I need to add more mulch. Level out the garden as much as possible. Got some free seeds this year and they didn't have any names it was like: Watermelon Og x BB haze x Grateful haze you know some SUPER random crosses and I was so busy this year that I didn't even label them. I should have labeled this one But, hindsight is 2020.
Haven't seen real cannabis in person. It must be fun growing it and suddenly it's become taller than you!
They grow up so fast! 😭🤣
Wow! 5 feet tall. I wonder how much taller it can grow more. Cannabis must be hard to maintain but you seem to know exactly what's needed to be done. That's nice. Keep going!
Thank you!
Cannabis is actually fairly easy to grow
