Humans and animals depend on food and water for survival. Without food surviving will seems very difficult for every living things. Have you ever imagine what life without food will be like? I personally won't like it because I love eating a lot.
Farming is very important because without farming producing food and raw materials that helps in our daily living won't be possible. So what is farming?
What is farming?
Farming is the process of cultivating the earth, raising plant and also breading animals for food, fiber, medicine and other products.
There are various aspects of family.
Here are some of them;
- Crop Cultivating: this is the process of planting grains, vegetables,fruits and herbs for agriculture purposes. This involves preparing the soil, watering it, sowing seeds and taking good care of it. When crops are fully matured are harvested. They way we plant crops differ from one crop to the other. For example; the way we sew corn is different from the way we see rice.
I practice this kind of farming for some time. I planted hot pepper, and it did very well. I know this because before planting the pepper I prepared the land, then after preparing the land I added some manure. I used poultry waste as manure. I love poultry waste because it helps increase the soils nutrients and it is 100% organic. It has no after effect unless it was not done properly. I used it on my pepper farm and I was very happy how my plants were: very greenish and growing well.
So in crop cultivation I advise using organic form of fertilization. When the soil is being fertilized organically it hep any crop which is being planted on it to perform well and it also keep the soil fertilized for a longer period of time unlike the chemical fertilizer which after some time has some negative effect on the soil. Organic fertilization serves best when used to plant vegetables. If you see any vegetables planted in a well organic fertilized soil you will right tell.
- Livestock Rearing: This is a process of breeding, raising, and managing domestic animals of different kind for the purpose of food and also for the production of raw materials like wool and leather. Today there are many common type of livestock around the world. Some examples of this are goats, pigs, cattle, poultry and so on. Just like crop cultivation, livestock Rearing can be done in many different scale. From low scale, that is starting with little capital to Large scale.
Rearing animals require some basic knowledge about animal health. This is important inorder to know how to treat and protect each animal in times of ill health. The issue of knowledge on animal health is very important for anyone investing mostly in the piggery and poultry business. Once a sickness come in to a pen, there is every possiblity that all the animals there will contact it. So it is important to know when is disease or sickness is about start and then prevent it on time. This will save you time, stress and heartbreak.
Today many people are going after White collar jobs forgetting that farming can earn them more than those jobs. Many countries today especially those blessed with oil are also leaving farming behind and this is causing extreme hard all over the world. The price of food keep increasing due to limited production and huge demand of food. If many countries can retreat their steps and fo back to farming then there is high chances that they will do well and it will help reduce hunger and hardship.
The world can't do without farming. The early they learn about this the better. My country has switched back to farming and are encouraging a lot of young minds to invest in agriculture. Some years ago they empowered many to start farming in their various starts. Regardless of this food price keep increasing in my country. More people are needed to come into agriculture. Once people start seeing farming as a business then more people will like to join it.
