How do I start hydroponics?

So many people commented when I posted something about my garden, and almost all of them asked me to upload something about getting started with hydroponics. It make me think about create something to help others get started with hydroponics. But believe me, I'm not that skilled in this field. I'll try to help a little.

We'll get started, but I'm making it very long so you can understand and have a long way to go. I'll make a small disclaimer: hydroponics can fail at first, and you should never give up. Have you ever heard of learning by doing? That's what it's like, so please don't be discouraged.

At first, it's just about preparing the necessary tools and materials. Nothing expensive; you can even use a few simple tools and plastic waste from around the house. It's like a challenge to see how you can use something. But since I have it, this is what I'll introduce.

  • Seedling tray

This is a tool that I don't actually use for all the seeds I plan to plant hydroponically. However, this is the most important thing to use when growing kale seedlings. I have three different sizes, each with different functions, but I usually use the densest one for sowing water spinach seeds.

  • Rockwool and cutter

Two things that are very helpful in growing and maintaining hydroponics. This is where the seeds begin to grow into something valuable. Place the very small seeds and they will grow to two leaves, and so on. The rockwool will hold its shape very well if you cut it using this simple tool.

  • Seeds

These are the three types of seeds i will use. However, I'll be using these water spinach seeds; they taste the best of all the seeds available: Bangkok water spinach. They can't be beat, and they're also inexpensive.

  • Netpot

They're small, but once the seeds are sown, they need a container like this to deliver nutrients to the roots so they can grow well and perfectly.

  • Flannel Cloth

I always use flannel cloth as a wick to direct water from the bottom up. It has excellent absorbency and is the cheapest, but if you have this type of fabric or some old clothes, you can use them too.

  • AB Mix (hydroponic fertilizer)

A combination of two chemical solutions that will give your vegetables the opportunity to grow well under at least 6 hours of sunlight each day.

  • Styrofoam Boxes

I like using leftover Styrofoam boxes because they're much more durable than plastic (and of course, because they're cheaper). Use the lids to create a suspended water supply that nourishes the vegetables.

Thank you for sharing this! Your guide is really helpful and easy to understand. I appreciate how you explained everything step by step, and it makes me feel encouraged to try hydroponics myself. Grateful for your tips and effort in helping others get started, especially like me.

This way of growing your plants has caught everyone's eye, including me
It seems interesting to me, something you should try with some types of vegetables here
But I don't dare to start with it yet .
Although some current things are distracting me from it
But I'm definitely following and learning

The most important thing in starting is determination and intention. If you don't have that, then you have to find something that can motivate you.

by the way, is that true we should to move the sprout to the netpot when the third and fourth leaves are grow?

theoretically correct, but you should know that your sprout already has 2 small leaves.

Wah mantap, pakai tray semainya 👍, itu strayfoam boxnya apa sudah ada lubangnya atau dilubangi sendiri?
