Hello to all my friends here in HiveGarden! I have something to share on my blog today, and I hope you enjoy reading it.
Yesterday morning, before I went to church, my sister-in-law Tina called me. She asked if I was planning to attend the service, and I told her yes I was already preparing to go. Tina told me that after the church service, I should go straight to her house instead of heading home. As soon as the service ended, I went directly to Tina’s house, just as I had promised. She had prepared a special meal for everyone and I felt grateful and happy to share lunch with them.
After we finished eating, Tina already knew what I was going to do of course, I went straight to check her plants. While I was inspecting them, I touched one of the leaves and noticed something unusual stuck to it, like a small snail. She hadn’t noticed it before because she had been too busy with other things. Unfortunately, the leaf was already damaged. Tina decided to cut off the part where the snail was attached to prevent it from spreading and to help the plant recover.
I also remembered that she bought this calamansi plant at the market when we went there together. There was a man selling plants on the sidewalk and she decided to buy one to plant. Now it already has fruits. Tina really took good care of it. She said she added some rotten leaves and chicken manure to help it grow. Ever since she did that, the plant grew strong, produced many flowers and finally bore fruit.
I didn’t know what to call those tiny snails stuck on the leaves. She wondered why her plants kept getting them. Sometimes, she also saw worms on her plants, especially during hot weather. I told Tina to try spraying insecticide to see if it would help. If the spray worked, I told her she should only use it once a week to make sure nothing sticks to her flowers. Luckily, Tina said her favorite plant was still fine.
Most of the places I went to had this kind of flower and I had one too, haha. But mine was bought from a friend of my mother. When Tita Nora visited, she saw this kind of flower and really wanted to buy it. Mama Moret suggested just giving it to her because it’s easy to plant, but Tita Nora didn’t agree. She said the pot was expensive and the plant had been very well taken care of.
Tina said that the plant came from Bicol and that it grew well. She also gave the same kind to the school where her daughter studied. She liked red, so she was looking for more to add to her collection. Her son got angry because there were so many plants inside and outside the house, haha. I told her he couldn’t relate or understand because he didn’t like plants.
Of course, I never skipped my favorite color, haha. Tina knew that very well. She gave me one of those before, but it didn’t survive, so I asked for another one. It was also a unique plant because I didn’t often see it, only from her. I just hoped that the one I planted this time would grow.
She called that plant lavers haha. I just laughed, but it was really cute and very beautiful. It was so thick and spread all around the outside of her house. Only the two of us understood each other when it came to plants because her children didn’t like them.
I got many ideas from her, like putting rotten leaves on the plants. She also dried fruit and vegetable peels before adding them to the soil. Tina said that was what made the plants grow well. She also dissolved the fertilizer in water and poured it only at the base of the plant, not on the leaves. She said to use only a small amount of fertilizer just one handful and mix it with plenty of water.

Wow new achievement @hivebuzz I am forever grateful. Thank you...
You're welcome @jazlove! Have a nice day
You have mentioned the detailed tips very well. I have learned something new form your discussion with your friend Tina. Seems to be both of you are good friend and loves flower and garden like me. Your special tips little tips attract me most. I wish I had such a friend who cares my plants. I have bought some Orchid flower plants few months back. but the new brunch is not growing. Can you suggest me some tips on this case?
My secret for growing orchids is that I don’t water them every day only twice a week. Don’t put them in a place that’s too hot, because that happened to my orchids before, I left them under the direct sun and they died. It’s better to place them where there’s a bit of shade, because they still need sunlight too. If you have a tree at home, you can put them under it so they get some shade and morning sunlight. @safi5
Thank you for your suggestions. Do you spray any fertilizer to them or any other method? You suggest me to keep it in light but not under direct sunlight?
Yes, it should be in a shaded place that still gets some sunlight, because orchids can also die if they don’t get any sun at all. Just make sure the leaves don’t turn yellow. You can use a spray sometimes on the leaves to prevent worms or insects. But if your orchids look healthy and the leaves aren’t damaged, it’s okay even if you don’t spray them often.
Thank you. Have a good day.
Same to you...God bless.
