Vegetables are one of the essential foods we need everyday. Buying is good but planting is a lot better. Hello hivers! I just got back in my husband's workplace and I brought seeds and seedlings from my hometown and to be planted here. We don't have vegetables like Saluyot and alugbati, green leafy vegetables that is perfect for soups that's why I brought some seeds and seedlings and I will try my luck if they could possibly live here and survived the 15 hours travel journey.

The big stems is the Saluyot leaves. I didn't find younger seedlings so what I did is I cut the grown stems and leave almost 6 inches long and preserve the roots. Usually Saluyot leaves are propagated through seeds. It has seeds attached to its stem but since it is still young there's no seeds to bring so I just uproot some stems. The tiny stems is called locally as "mangagaw". This is very effective when it comes to high fever that's why I uprooted some of its stems. I'm not sure if this will successfully grow here but I'll give it a try.

This one is the alugbati vine. I brought seeds and seedlings. I really searched for seedlings for this because I knew seeds is very impossible to grow but I'll give it a try.

And these are okras. This is from my old okra plants. It was untouched for almost a month that's why it turns brown and it's ready for planting.

This is a vacant area near the gate and I think this is a good spot for okra. I'll try to put it here.

Then I went to my neighbor to ask for mallungay leaves and they gave me a lot and also some oregano leaves.

And I had a perfect meal, a vegetable soup and dried fish. I brought dried fish from my hometown. The challenging part here is that the soil is not loam, it is mixed with sand or the soil has sandy texture. There's no mud here because of the sand. And my only secret for my vegetables to grow big and healthy is our urine. It seems creepy but it's effective. I love viscous vegetables like the Saluyot, alugbati and okra that's why I always put a lot of effort to this kind of vegetables in my garden. After a month I'll have some updates about it and let's see if it grow. I'm excited too. How about you guys what are your favorite vegetables. Did you grow them on your garden? Actually if we talk about favorite, my very loved vegetable is broccoli or a cauliflower but sad to say it won't grow in my area for weather reasons.
I'm very glad to see different vegetables and fruits in each of the hivers garden. This is my motivation to plant more and another advantage is I can save from buying it to groceries and wet market. It needs a care and water and it will give you a beautiful result.

Such a helping wife👍 that's the best thing if we have a vacant lot for planting vegetables even a few ones. We can save money and also we are able to eat fresh and organic vegetables.

That's right. It really helps in the budget. And also I wanted my kids to have vegetables on every meal so they will be practice eating it. A lot of kids nowadays don't know about local and organic vegetables.

You're absolutely right 👍 kids nowadays loves processed foods than vegetables but I also make sure that my kids eat vegetables at least once or twice a day.

That's right. Because they need vegetables too. I'm happy seeing my kids love vegetables. Some of their classmates at school feeding don't eat vegetables.
