Arisarum vulgare, Cyprus

I took the photo of Arizarum when I was walking along the territory of the natural strip.
The natural strip is a piece of wildlife that is located on the territory of the city of Larnaca.

In this area Arizarum ordinary grows in large quantities.
And what is strange, you will not meet him in the park that borders this zone.

As I noticed Arizarum mostly grows in large groups between trees.
Trees protect it from the scorching rays of the sun.

Arizarum flowers are unisexual, 8 to 10 cm in size.
It is mainly pollinated by flies, as its flowers have
bad smell.

  • On the Internet, I found this information:
"All species and all parts of plants are poisonous and the genus Arizarum is listed as "Plants containing potent, narcotic or poisonous substances"

The photos I were taken with a Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70L tablet

What a beauty! Are they native to Cyprus?

Thanks a lot!
Yes, it is in my city, in Larnaca.
This is the place where I always look for mushrooms :-)
And where wild orchids grow!

Oh! Poisonous plants! I won’t get any!
