October report

in HiveGarden11 days ago (edited)

A somewhat gloomy picture.
October has arrived, the sun is getting less and less, and gloomy days are ahead of us.
I had a few more crops in the garden. I was wondering what to do.
But I cut them.
I pulled the leek out of the ground, maybe it was left too long, but the grass around it saved it from the drought.
And the zucchini have finished their work for this year, I picked another one and pulled out the zucchini stems.
There were still a few flowers, but the weather is getting colder. And I think the zucchini did a great job this year, I'm very happy with it.

The pumpkins that I hesitated about the most but gave up on.
I will write about them separately in hwc 2025.The garden looked to me like an uncut and untidy lawn

The weather conditions have confused some plants and some are late in flowering. Overall a strange year.

Work awaits in the orchard, including fertilizing the fruit trees and pruning.

I ordered a small greenhouse today, it should be delivered tomorrow.
We have already decided on a place for it Near the raspberries and chokeberry.
I transplanted one chokeberry to make room for the greenhouse. It was certainly smaller than the existing large chokeberry bush.
I tightened the rope and placed it on wooden pegs

And called the man to dig the entire garden with a tractor

For later, I have to scatter the manure around the garden and loosen the soil in the spring.
I will prepare the part planned for the greenhouse earlier. And since that part has not been specially cultivated, I plan to go through it 2-3 times with the tiller. Of course, this work will be done in stages

The front garden was still green, and looked more beautiful than the garden.

Your garden looks spacious. And trees are nicely distributed. You did good work with that.
Yes last year was same with us as some trees, apple tree, had their flowers in Autumn. This year is colder.
All best with greenhouse. It takes some work but it is very good to have one.

Thank you

It sounds like you’ve had a very productive gardening season! Even though the weather is getting colder you’ve managed to make the most of it. The new greenhouse near the raspberries and chokeberry sounds exciting, it will be perfect for extending your growing season next year!
