RE: What If I Couldn't Garden?

in HiveGardenyesterday

As gardeners we know that a garden = freedom. Of course all the surplus we produce goes to the local community in one way or another.
It's hard to accept when our age or some illness means we can no longer work as we used to. But we can always contribute with something. Near my work, while I was going to the store, an elderly gentleman caught my eye. He can hardly stand on his feet, as far as I can tell. But I noticed that when it's a nice day, he brings out a plastic chair and sits on it. He holds a garbage bag in his lap and collects all the fallen leaves with a leaf rake.
I saw myself in a few decades, no giving up.

That's so poignant. May we always find a way.
