Yeah, thanks for the reminder about the onion, they are being planted for the leaves only which I cut for my porridge and soup. when they are done with the leaves I discard them. I do not have space like before since moving to a flat, we only have a balcony and I plant in containers. I used to plant my tulip bulbs in Fall before we leave for Andalusia ( Winter destination). When we come back each year end of Feb, the leaves sprout already. It is beginning to get warmer here in Vienna and I would like to start with planting in containers, hopefully no more frost in the night.
I have read about the long winter season in New England, a friend of mine who lives near Atlanta loved going there in Nantucket for vacay in Summer, but stopped when her husband died a couple of years ago.
Are you planting outside the house?, might as well cover the soil with foil (just like what farmers are using) when you´ve tranferred the germinated seeds. Wishing you a nice weather there!

I plant outside, in GrowBag containers:
I like to control the soil and fertilizer, as well as water, so I use containers.
Typically, I transplant on May 1st. Or near enough, each year.
BTW, Nantucket is not far from me. An hour or so. Beautiful little island!
I love your garden... you have so many herbs and other goodies.... I will try to get updates on your garden and maybe I could learn more on your methods. Thanks for sharing.
Oh, sure... happy to share!
I am a BIG fan of eating... so, ALSO a big fan of Cooking.
And since I am a fan of food, I like to grow my own, too!
