Hello to everyone. I'm Özge and this post is my first post in the HiveGarden community. I've wanted to share this with you for a long time. So I'm a little excited. I have been doing hobby gardening for three years in the small garden in front of the building we live in. With the onset of the pandemic in 2020, I started my teaching profession from home with online lessons. I decided to cultivate the garden in front of our building due to the fact that we were closed to our houses that year.
Herkese merhaba. Ben Özge ve bu gönderi benim HiveGarden topluluğundaki ilk paylaşımım. Uzun zamandır bunu sizlerle paylaşmak istiyordum. Dolayısıyla bir miktar heyecanlıyım. Oturduğumuz binanın önündeki küçük bahçede üç yıldır hobi bahçeciliği yapıyorum. 2020 yılında pandeminin başlamasıyla birlikte öğretmenlik mesleğimi evden online derslerle yürütmeye başlamıştım. O yıl evlere kapanmamızın da etkisiyle binamızın önündeki bahçeyi ekip biçmeye karar verdim.
In our planting activities in 2020, tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, zucchini, etc. I set up a garden of vegetables and fruits. I got plenty of yield especially from tomatoes and cucumbers. I continued this with the help of my neighbors in 2021, but this time I did not plant zucchini because the squash seedling was spreading too much and disturbing the other seedlings.
2020 yılındaki ekim faaliyetlerimizde domates, salatalık, biber, patlıcan, kabak, vb. sebze ve meyvelerden oluşan bir bahçe kurdum. Özellikle domates ve salatalıktan bol miktarda verim aldım. 2021 yılında komşularımın da katksıyla bunu devam ettirdim fakat bu kez kabak ekmedim çünkü kabak fidesi çok fazla yayılıyor ve diğer fideleri rahatsız ediyordu.
This year, I had to wait a long time to plant seedlings in the ground because the weather continued to be cold until mid-May. Gardening, which we normally start in April, is unfortunately a month late. With the warming of the weather, my husband and I went and bought our first seedlings last weekend. Our first seedlings were tomato, cucumber and pepper seedlings. Tomatoes and cucumbers were one type, and pepper was two.
Bu yıl da toprağa fide dikmek için uzunca bir zaman beklemem gerekti çünkü havalar Mayıs ayının ortasına kadar soğuk devam etti. Normalde Nisan ayında başladığımız bahçecilik maalesef bir ay gecikti. Havanın ısınmasıyla birlikte kocamla gidip geçtiğimiz hafta sonu ilk fidelerimizi aldık. İlk fidelerimiz domates, salatalık ve biber fideleriydi. Domates ve salatalık tek çeşit, biber ise iki çeşit idi.
In order to plant the seedlings we bought, we had to aerate the garden soil by digging lightly with a shovel. This is by far the hardest part. Since we did this activity in a small area, we did not use machinery and we softened the soil with our own power. After this long process, we irrigated the soil in a small amount with the help of a hose. Then we started to plant our first seedlings in the ground. First, we buried the pepper seedlings at regular intervals. Then cucumber and finally tomato seedlings...
Aldığımız fideleri toprağa vermek için önce bahçe toprağını kürek ile hafifçe kazarak havalandırmamız gerekiyordu. Bu zaten işin en zor kısmı. Küçük bir alanda bu faaliyeti yaptığımız için makine kullanmadık ve kendi gücümüzle toprağı yumuşattık. Uzun süren bu işlemin ardından hortum yardımıyla toprağı az miktarda suladık. Sonra da ilk fidelerimizi toprağa vermeye başladık. İlkin biber fidelerini belirli aralıklarla gömdük. Ardından salatalık ve en son da domates fideleri...
After about five hours of effort, we were able to plant 20 seedlings. Of course, we were quite tired. It was very difficult for me to aerate the soil and plant the seedlings in the same day. For people like us who do not practice farming, agricultural activities can seem unusual and tiring. Still, the happiness of planting the first vegetables of this year in the ground is priceless.
Yaklaşık beş saatlik bir uğraşın ardından 20 adet fideyi dikmeyi başardık. Tabi epeyce de yorulduk. Aynı gün içerisinde hem toprağı havalandırmak hem de fideleri dikmek benim için oldukça zor oldu. Zira bizim gibi çiftçilik mesleğini icra etmeyen insanlar için tarımsal faaliyetler alışılmadık ve yorucu gelebiliyor. Yine de bu yılın ilk sebzelerini toprağa dikmenin verdiği mutluluk paha biçilemez.
These 20 seedlings are the ones we have planted for now, but we are planning to increase them a little more in the coming days because we have some more free space in the garden. I think it can get about 10 more seedlings in this empty space. After this day, I will continue to take care of my garden regularly and I will continue to share these moments with you. I hope that at the end of this effort, I will have the chance to share the fruits of my labor and the products of my garden with you. By the way, I would definitely recommend those who have a small garden like ours to deal with gardening. You will see, the peace it gives is incredible.
Bu 20 fide şimdilik dikebildiklerimiz fakat önümüzdeki günlerde bir miktar daha artırmayı düşünüyoruz çünkü bahçede bir miktar daha boş alanımız kaldı. Bu boş alanında yaklaşık 10 fide daha alabileceğini düşünüyorum. Bu günden sonra düzenli olarak bahçemin bakımını sürdüreceğim ve bu anları da sizlerle paylaşmaya devam edeceğim. Umuyorum bu çabanın sonunda emeğimin karşılığını ve bahçemin ürünlerini de sizlerle paylaşma şansım olur. Bu arada bizimki gibi küçük de olsa bahçesi olanlar için kesinlikle bahçecilik ile uğraşmalarını tavsiye ediyorum. Göreceksiniz, verdiği huzur inanılmaz.

Indeed, for people who are not used to practicing farming, it will be very tiring in the beginning. It takes a long time for us to adapt and enjoy it all. Most importantly, we don't mind taking care of the plants we've grown.

Actually, my childhood was spent in apricot farming. I worked with my family at a young age on much larger fields than this, but now it is difficult to farm while doing another job. :)) By the way, thank you very much for your comment, I will share it with you again as it grows. :)

It's good to have the space to plant a garden, even if it's just a small garden.
Gardening is a lot of work, but it's worth it when you're picking the tomatoes and other veggies.

2020 bana da balkonda yetiştirme hobisi kazandırdı. Bu sene balkonda alan açmak istendiği için çok az saksı yetiştiriyorum. Kendimi bitkilerle ilgilenirken umut dolu hissediyorum. Özellikle de tohum veya fide ekerken geleceğe dair güzel hisler yeşeriyor. Bahçeden bereketli lezzetler alırsınız umarım 🌴
