I think the fish fertiliser is a great idea, and it won't smell so much if it's buried under plants, but then who knows who'd dig them up. Planting a banana skin and some egg shells under your tomatoes however, is a super idea and one your dear wife may agree with. Tell her I sympathise - men do come up with some crazy ideas.

The dogs and other critters is what I would be afraid of with the fish. We do eat plenty of bananas and eggs. So peels and shells would be readily available.
