Great that you caught this one and even better that you are heading back to your Mexican garden soon! I recommend when you get back to check your land for north/south alignment. One galvanised steel cable (with magnets attached to it at the south end) has the potential to activate miles of plants along the cable, as long as it runs exactly north in a straight line from the magnet end. It seems to me, if one has the right land for it, this particular technique has the greatest potential vs cost.
