Growing Hot Peppers

If you love to grow your own vegetables and love trying out new varieties then here are a few you may like to try if you enjoy "Hot Peppers". I decided to step it up this season and grow different varieties to make my salsas and pickled peppers more eye appealing. I love the variety of colors that the Jalapeños are going to offer to my preserving this year. Below are the new varieties that I chose to try and can hardly wait to see the results.

Aji Cristal Chili Pepper

A Chilean pepper with a blend of citrusy flavor and heat which intensifies as the fruit reaches maturity. This pepper transforms from green to yellow and finally to a pale red. This crispy fleshed pepper clocks in at about 30,000 Scoville which is six times hotter than a Jalapeño.

This is an all-around versatile pepper that can be used fresh, for pickling, hot sauce, salsas, soups, or even dried and kept longer for seasoning.

Buena Mulata

A very rare, extremely productive, and stunning hot pepper that undergoes color changes during ripening; violet to pinkish-flesh color, then orange changing to brown, and eventually to a deep red. The red peppers are actually sweeter than when in the younger stage.

Jimmy Nardello Italian Pepper

This long, thin-skinned frying pepper dries easily and has such a rich flavor that this variety has been placed in “The Ark of Taste” by the Slow Food organization. Ripens to a deep red, is very prolific, and does well in most areas.

Orange Spice Jalapeño

This vibrant, tangerine-orange variety of Jalapeño is super ornamental and extremely prolific. These have a wonderful fruity-citrus taste and are packed with nutrition, and are only moderately spicy. The Scoville Units: 2,000 ~ 8,000.

Lemon Spice Jalapeño

Super ornamental and extremely prolific, these fruity-tasting peppers produce huge harvests! This variety has major eye appeal and stands out in salsas and other fresh preparations; the color is stunning and really pops.

Jalapeno

Jalapeño is perfect for making lots of salsa, Jalapeño poppers, and Pickled Peppers. They even freeze beautifully for all your favorite recipes to enjoy all year long. The plants are huge producers and so easy to grow too.

I did purchase all of my seeds from https://rareseeds.com they offer so many wonderful varieties every year. I highly recommend them as their quality and service are outstanding. Happy gardening to all.
