On Saturday (May 7th) I went on a business trip to Karo Regency (it's about 50 km from my house), Karo Regency is located in the highlands of North Sumatra province, because of that Karo land has a cold climate. The main road to Tanah Karo is very congested (there was a traffic jam for 4 hours) which was announced by the police through the news on National TV, so we took an alternative route through the forest in the Bukit Barisan area.
while crossing the Telaga forest which is still in the Bukit Barisan forest area, our family rested while enjoying the view of the fairly dense forest, I felt happy to be in the forest like this, I got out of the car to take some photos and when I was busy taking pictures, I found a pearl orchid that grows between the leaves of the forest above the soil surface.
Because pearl orchids are ground orchids that grow between the leaves that begin to rot, so many of these pearl orchids are stepped on by visitors and eventually die. I'm looking for some pearl orchids for me to grow at home.
The next morning after returning home, I quarantined the pearl orchid, I planted it in a basket and put it in a humid place, the purpose of this quarantine was so that the orchid could adapt to its new environment which has a warmer climate than its cold climate.
Today the weather is quite sunny, the sun is shining beautifully and feels warm on the skin. Unlike the usual days in early May, today (11th May) the weather is quite friendly and I decided to do some gardening. in the morning, I started transplanting the beautiful pearl orchids into small pots. I started to fill the moist soil into the pot, pearl orchids don't like dry soil.
Then I started planting pearl orchids, the stems are soft and break easily, I have to be careful when moving them. on each stem there are segments that cause the stems to not grow straight.
I cut the stem that has been overgrown with roots, it looks like the roots can grow from the internodes of the stem, if I don't cut the stem, the stem will break.
After planting pearl orchids, I tidy up some banana trees that are starting to grow bushes.
I started cutting the old leaves
I also cut down some saplings that grew a lot, these banana saplings had to be cut and I only left 3-4 banana saplings in one place, this is so that the bananas are more numerous and bigger when they bear fruit (bananas are not stunted)
now it's selfie time!
like one more month I can harvest this banana.
some other banana plants are also starting to bear fruit.
This is my favorite banana, when it is ripe it tastes very sweet and fragrant, this banana is not good when processed into food, this banana can be eaten immediately after cooking on the tree.
when I was in the garden, I didn't feel the time running, it was 1 in the afternoon, I immediately went home. I pray that our garden will be successful and get abundant results
