My Rooftop Garden: Nurturing My Growing Gourd Plants

in HiveGardenlast month

Who doesn’t love a rooftop garden? Spending time with plants is a great way to relax, even with a busy schedule. That’s why I grow vegetables on my rooftop. It brings me joy, fresh produce, and a little escape from daily life. Gardening is peaceful, and a perfect way to enjoy nature at home.

Like every year, I planted gourd seedlings on the roof at the beginning of summer. That too, about 25 days ago. The gourd trees have grown a lot. New branches and leaves have sprouted and are rising upwards. Some new flowers have also appeared, which will become gourds. So, for their nourishment, it is now necessary to provide soil mixed with organic fertilizer at the base of the trees.

So, today I added fresh soil mixed with organic fertilizer to the base of the gourd plant to nourish it and support its growth.

First, I took some dry, crumbly soil. Then, I mixed in bone powder, organic fertilizer, and dried cow dung that I bought from the nursery to create a nutrient blend. The soil is ready to be placed at the base of the tree.

Then I picked up the soil and placed it at the base of the tree. I soaked the soil well with water to help it mix easily with the organic soil. That’s it—the job is done. Now, I will wait for the flowers to bloom and the buds to appear. When that happens, I must take care of the plant again to help it grow healthy and strong. Gardening is all about patience and care.
