Lore

The Orchardkind are spirits that bless people with abundunce but in turn expect others to share that abundance. If someone is blessed with an amazing harvest and are greedy, leaving their fellow villagers to starve despite their amazing harvest the next year their crop will be terrible. Beyond that though the orchard kind also gives to those who ask and is one of the few beings whom alters and shrines to are places people take things from rather than place things at.

You can see the prompt here - https://peakd.com/hive-140877/@london65/charactober--week-2-plant-and-growth-motif-6-prompts

The prompt was about abundance, fall and warm fall colours.

I started with a sketch to show someone with weight on them. Arm straight from the weight of the basket and leaning on the cane.

$1

I then developed the sketch more. I liked the feeling of depth the tree blocking a good chunk of the landscape created.

$1

From there I refined the sketch of the character to include the clothing they are wearing.

$1

From there it was time to start colouring. I started doing really bround colours first.

$1
Then did some highlights and darks to give the trees a little more substance. Trees are hard okay.

$1
The next step was to do the tree and the base colours for the orchardkin. I leaned into the autum/fall colours as well as wanting the feelings of being soft and welcoming.

$1
After that I spent a lot of time refining the face/head and clothing.

I also added apples into the trees since it was supposed to look like he was walking along an apple orchard.

$1
After that it was a matter of some touch ups, shifting line layers to suit the look I wanted and deciding I was done working on it.

$1
