I spent a lot of time on this one. I was originally gonna do ink but seeing the subtle shades I ended up doing pencil, and then black pencil crayon, and then some white ink.
I began with some very simple lines and figuring out the proportions. Also I gotta say Snow leopards are gorgeous.
This was when I realized the eye on the right side of the page was not quite where it was supposed to be.
And now I fixed it. And did some stuff for shading.
Then I shaded the nose. I find with pencil darks really need to be built up. Just pressing hard deosn't work as nice.
Lighting change! Did more of the shading on the chin and realized the chin wasn't right.
I got really into it and forgot to take pictures for quite a while.
I felt like I had taken this as far as I could with pencil. Getting truly black with pencil doens'treally work so this was when I went in with a black pencil crayon. I have Faber Castell polychromous which are in my opinion the best pencil crayons out there.
As you can see the darks are much darker.
And Now for the piece de resistance WHITE PEN. This makes the eye go from flat to round, and makes the whiskers look awesome.
And Done.
honestly though, I probably could have worked on this for forever just playing with details.
This is my favorite in your ink and pen series. I appreciate the limited things a pen can do but I also appreciate the wonders a combo of tools could accomplish like your piece of resistance and crayon :) I love this really. Thank you for sharing it to the community. Pls do not forget to share also on Snaps for better visibility and engagement and some rewards.
Comments like this really help motivate me to show my work, both the final result and the process.
I really enjoyed working on this one. It was a pleasure to do.
I really love reading and seeing the process of how artists do their work and your blog post is very real and I could learn a thing or two. That white pen made a lot of difference, the eyes became dewy I love it. I am learning just by reading and appreciating all the artists work process here on Hive.
It's amazing how much a little bit of something can improve the overall work.
there are so many great artists on hive, and being here has really encourged me to do more creative stuff.

You captured the features of a snow leopard very well.
I myself will tripped over balancing the size and shape of the eyes kudos to you for a job well done
Getting the eyes right is so hard sometimes. Glad to know I'm not the only one who struggles there.
