I had been planning to make a do over for most of the previous drawings I made and when I saw this new initiative posted in our community about Do Over Doodle I thought I would start today.
This is the new and revised version of my squirrel character. The main reason I want to make a do over is because it does look like more of a fox than a squirrel so here it is

The changes I made :
- The shape in general to make it look like a squirrel. The ears are shorter and rounder now. The tail is bushy and bigger and rounder. The paws and the socks are also rounded and chubby.
- The mouth, I received a suggestion from Khiabels to make the mouth work with the expression which is supposed to be happy
- The color palette: still the same subdued hues but this time using a different set
4, The clothes are still scholarly because this character is reading a book that is the plan. Maintained that nice clean top and pants with collar but this time I added buttons and made the sweater with a nice stripe pattern to make it more interesting
The socks are now grey and plain less details and less distracting because the sweater itself is already with a cool pattern not to mention the tail - The general look and feel of the character is warm. inviting and friendly and familiar. The book clutched under her arm may mean she is ready and available to give someone a hug and that wide eyed gaze.
This is the version that I made a do over for

Here is how I achieved the new version of the squirrel
Assessed what is working and what is not on this sketch like the startled expression the unintentional pattern on the tail and more

I am clear to make the shape more rounder this time and here is the first sketch of that idea

After some more tweaking here is what I decided to keep: I think the fuller and rounder busy tail is going good as well as the shape of the ears, paws and socks.

I did not make a drastic change on the color palette it is still the same subdued colors that I love from the previous but here I am using brown and green and the orange fur is now milder and toned down soft brown shade

Now that I am happy with the new look I pushed it even more to add a little shading and bring more depth especially on the tail

That was a little quicker that I thought maybe it was the adrenaline of me trying on a new challenge that helped me accomplish this do over quicker more fun and fulfilling. I am glad I was able to make this one work.
Cheers,
Krisette
