I finally had the drive to sketch a new character from my previous drawing. Last year I interpreted the drawing prompt Hearthside prompt : Home from the snow. If you remember the three feline characters that was it. I planned to make a do over but the three are just fine and so I decided to add another OC character this time something that is part of the snowy landscape. Introducing, Gorum.
Here is how I made this character:
First I made reference to my previous drawing the Home from the snow where I featured these three OC characters that I designed.

These three are winter foragers finding sustenance. The tall leader, Rylan carries a satchel packed with root vegetables and preserved berries. His apprentice Sana, holds the potent winter tea leaves. Little Fig carries the firewood. I have been wanting to expand their story and I thought a new OC character would be helpful in telling their story

Using the style and colors from my previous drawing here I drafted the shape of a giant I will call Gorum. I envision it to be taller than the rest of the mountains around. This giant was the first to arrive in the planes. He stepped out of the crust of the earth to break the wind. His massive, stony body created the Shadow Zones the only places where the snow doesn't bury a traveler alive.

Without Gorum, there would be no mountains to shelter the houses of the three feline characters. He provides the stone and the safety of the heights, but his movement causes the earth to crack. On my drawing here I am trying to define the stone plates on his body. From shoulders to his square chest. It is quite a challenge to achieve that vision. I borrowed the eyes of Rylan to give that glowing golden iris.

Gorum is like a titan here I am debating if I will keep him like a pure hard mountain and stone or not. I am not yet final what would be his role or characteristics. For now he provides the stone structures for the houses of my main characters. Could he be a warrior or the king of the mountains ? I am not sure. I am glad that I was able to finish him quickly. This is how he looks and I think I am loving it.
