It had been a few days already when I last made doodle of a subject with symmetry. well this started as just a warm up today, A gentleman an old money I call Lucen, He is calm, collected, and quietly complicated. I was going for that composed gentleman type, the kind who walks into a room and is very calculated. Maybe a boss who calls the shots

Drawing faces is always tricky for me, and this one really tested my patience. The hardest part was balancing the eyes making sure they were even but still had life. Then came the pupils, then the eyebrows, which somehow decide the entire personality of the face. I kept adjusting tiny lines that changed everything: too much curve and he looked cartoony, too little and he looked blank. Those subtle line adjustments make the difference but I do not have the time that is why I prefer doodles.

I want to stop here the eyes are really my struggle to balance

Lucen is someone from a well-off family business the kind of person who manages people and numbers with precision and calculated risk. There is a calm control about him and also a bit of loneliness behind his blank steady gaze.

Sketches don’t have to be perfect they just need to feel right. And after wrestling with symmetry longer than I expected, I think Lucen finally does.

Keep creating,
