Had a quick doodle today while drinking some hot cup of coffee and it was such a delightful time with my markers once again . The ones I dread using because I just couldn't control the ink flow. But watching this character develop and unfold right before my eyes from a simple ball point ink outline to a vibrant, colorful portrait was quite satisfying and less disappointing. That sounded a little easier but it was a challenge really
My Creative Process
I reused a used paper that I drew on previously before throwing it out. My usual pen and color markers are my tools
The Initial Sketch: Started with crisp ink lines to capture his whimsical hat and nice fluffy beard.
At this point I am already happy with the shape and interesting character face I doodled although at the back of my mind I'm already anticipating the mess I would make using the colored markers

Layering the Palette: Used my favorite pinks and oranges to give him a warm, friendly glow, keeping the coloring intentional and bright like candies. TBH these are the only color choices I can make as the rest are too saturated and dark

- Final Flourishes: Finished with a dark, moody shadow background to make those vibrant candy inspired colors pop right off the page or I thought so.
It’s just so satisfying to see how a few quick strokes can transform a blank page into such an interesting personality Love how the idea of a Candyman ties his whole vibe together. Can he be really a candy Man just looking at his face? Did I just purely based that decision on my color choices?
If you were a character based on your favorite treat, what would your name and aesthetic be?

Thanks for dropping by see you in the next. Happy weekend to all my friends here on drawaday community and fellow Hivers
That turned out so well
I think I would be an ice cream man 🤣
