quick draft I made of a bat ready for flight this form is anthropomorphic making her wings look like a cape
Still building the rich lexicon of Murniloo. I was inspired by one of the posts here in the community about bats and learned a thing or two which prompted me to add some words into my conlang related to bats.
BAT : Nyvrekka (ɲiv-REK-kah)
Something fluttery, mysterious, moon related, and helpful creature. They do balance work like seed spreading and pest control, without being loud about it.
The sound must be liquidy, or airy, but with a hint of nighttime shadow.
Nyv-: a nod to the ɲ sound (like in nyffrin) — feels fluttery and small
-rekka: inspired by the soft flapping motion of wings + a glottal finish that gives a sense of echo or distance
Alt meaning nuance: can also suggest "twilight guardian" or "night-sower"
BABY BAT: Nyverli (ɲiv-ER-lee)
Diminutive and soft, sounds gentle and fuzzy.
- Root: Nyvrekka +
- suffix -li (a baby or small being)
BAT FLOCK : Skarynth (SKAR-inth)
Evokes a sweeping movement across the sky
Root: Skyrme(sky) + rhythm + breath)
Has a slightly spooky sound good for moonlit flights
Regional variants:
Skaryntha (SKAR-in-thah) – a stretchier, breathier version
Skrynth (SKRINTH) – clipped and brisk, maybe used mid-flight
Nykara (ɲi-KAH-rah) – poetic dialect from near the Glyssa riverbank (moon-flock)
