This is the sketch I made for the SketchQuest contest of @quatro. I was thinking about Christmas coming up and the thought of getting a tree hit me, so I doodled it,. I want an outdoor winter scene and some kids having fun in the blizzard. I didn't plan the details I just started with the two kids trying to haul the tree
I wanted it to feel like that chilly but super warm feeling you get when you're all bundled up and excited, and I wanted it to be simple and cozy. The lines are loose because I wanted that feeling of a memory sketch. I want the thinking process to show in it. I went with those nice earthy tones like the browns, the deep reds, and the olives to keep it warm against the pale snow. And of course, the little bird. He just kinda popped in there to watch the chaos and to add some interesting details
Process was quick and fun, although I was doubting just a bit if the snow looked right. That’s how I do it I make, go with the flow, edit, meh, keep what’s working and learn from mistakes. Hope you guys feel the cozy vibes
