Welcome to 365 Draw A Day Drawing Challenge. A drawing challenge that aims to enjoin participants to create on a regular basis and thus help improve their skills. Today, my drawing is
Fun Time
Dreaming about magical winter once again. When everything is covered in white it looks calm and wonderful. I can think of the snow angel which I only see on pictures as I had not experienced winter yet. See my drawing of a duckling having fun creating shapes on the snow using its legs and wings to form the snow angel.
This is how I made my drawing:
I know what I want to draw today. I saw an image online of a duckling doing the snow angel. It was cute and I really wanted to make my own version of it. To start, I painted the background using the spray brush. I then created the image of the duckling using 3D shapes.
Using the same 3D shapes tool, I added a pair of red pants and last is the black socks. I find it easy creating using this drawing app because I can copy and paste some parts that are symmetrical. Saves me time really. This black sock I will copy and paste to the other leg later.
Done with the legs now time for the coat. I did the same copy and paste for the coat to make it easier creating a somewhat symmetrical coat. The beak is also added at this stage of the drawing process.
I love the flaps and the buttons which form the pockets of the coat. Nice and cute detail that should not be ignored. Here I show how I made the green scarf. Piece by piece. First the one on the neck and last the other half of it on the back. There is an option to push it back so it goes beneath the head of the duckling. You can always tweak it and that is the fun part. I made the shade of green darker to give that illusion of depth.
For the finishing touches I put in some furs on the duckling. It was not easy because I am using the crayon brush and this is the smallest setting I can adjust the brush to. I also added shadows and highlights on the scarf, coat and socks. This will further add texture to the otherwise 2D and flat looking image. Hope you like it.
This challenge as you can tell requires a ton of commitment as it literally involves creating one drawing for a whole year. Never fret if you miss a day or two just try to catch up or start on a day that you can. What matters most is you have fun with no pressure creating.
