Back with another round of the shape for the doodle magic drawing challenge. This time, the abstract shape is this big, beautiful blob of gold. Looking at it, I saw immediate movement like someone was leaping or running forward in a race. So, I went with that energy and feeling.
I used the main bulk of the shape to define the torso and the ponytail of this running figure. I love how the gold of the original shape became the bright blonde hair, and then adding the red shirt and the neutral skin tone really brought the whole image to life. The red really helped in this sense. Even though the art style is flat and stylized, you can really feel the speed and intensity of movement of the runner.
It perfectly shows my love for clean lines and flat simple color blocks that tell my story quite well. This one was a bit tricky, but I think the final running figure looks really bent literally and motivated to go for her goal. What kind of race do you think she's running?
