Back at it with the shape transformation challenge I call the Doodle Magic Drawing challenge. This time, the basic shape was a really interesting U curve in this electric purple color. I looked at that negative space and those twisting arms, and immediately saw something wacky and strange that needed to be brought to life. At this point thinking about kelp...
I focused on using the shape's natural curves to create the body and those long structures or could be appendages. Since the shape already had a cool, organic flow, I emphasized the alien look by adding two separate eyes. I placed one on top, one on the side and giving it those kelp like, clawed hands and feet. The dark, almost earthy purple of the claws contrasts nicely with the bright body color.
It totally fits in with the bold, graphic style I've been doing. I kept the lines clean and the color blocks simple so the bizarre silhouette of the monster does justice to the whole vibe. I just want to try to make a fun, strange looking alien creature from the deep. I'm really happy with how this weird little purple monster or alien turned out.
