This is an install of a bash plate / skid plate for a DR650. The bash plate protects the bottom of the engine from rocks and debris.

EDIT: The smaller bolts did go in the back. You want to lose the washers in the back so that the bolt heads are recessed. I edited the video showing the proper way to set the back bolts. This keeps them from hanging up on anything if you bottom out or hop over a tree trunk or something.

Hopefully these videos improve each time. I just ordered a new action cam too so I should have some footage of me out on the trails soon and some travel footage is coming really soon!

Those are probably M6 fasteners, so whatever torque you can put on them choked up on the ratchet like you've got a t-handle in your hand is more than enough. I remember my buddy snapping one off while my father and I were working with him on a trailer project. He was kind of a newb to wrenching. We both laughed and started calling him Schwarzenegger after that.

That's pretty much what I figured too. Exactly why I was holding it like that.

Sucks when this happens! I've done it a couple times myself. I've got a small 200cc Chinese Dual Sport and I'm constantly snapping bolts and screws. I've gotten good with an extractor though 🤣
