Cheap Kit Review: $15 Hammock from Amazon. Perfect backpack camping chair and lounger!

The warm weather is getting nearer! It got up in the 50s today in Buffalo. I bought this hammock last month, and today was the last day I could return it. I figured I'd make use of the sunshine and set this hammock up at the park and make sure everything was OK before I decided to keep it. .

I've been shopping for motorcycle parts and kit for this summers riding season. I impulse bought this $15.00 hammock from Amazon when it popped up as a special offer.

For $15 I couldn't resist, I had to try it. Hammocks are the perfect solution for lounging and relaxing when camping. I had a really cool tie-dye one since the mid 90s. It was all cotton and a freind of mine bought it in Bali. The thing lasted me forever but the material finally wore thin from years of wear and me gaining weight over the years certainly hasn't helped. 🤣 I got a lot of use out of it over that time and you could feel the fabric getting thin. I was really bummed when it ripped. The landing wasn't much fun either!

This new hammock isn't as stylish as my old one but the quality seems like it's there. The fabrick is very thin nylon parachute material. Seems legit. I sat on it slowly and it seemed to take my weight no problem. I didn't hear any ripping and the fabric seemed stronger as I sat down. It's supposed to hold up to 500 pounds. So far so good. We'll have to see how it fares over this riding season.

That looks like an excellent purchase for only $15. The fact that it packs away into such a small size is one of the best parts.

I was pretty shocked when I found it at that price. I'm trying to get everything in my travel bag, small and light. I'm really trying get the size and weight of my kit down. This fits in perfect for me. Much smaller than my old one too.

Now if only we could shrink our women down to that size... and mute them. Well, I could think of a long list of impossible things that I'd like to be able to do with women. Maybe I should just stop 🤪

I've been obsessed with anything travel sized. I travel with a duffel bag and want to keep it down to 5-6 kg instead around 10-9kg each time. Interesting find! I might find similar gear soon for my next one!

I'm all about the size and weight of everything I buy now. I've been checking out backpacking information and looking for backpacker specific products too. They always seem to be lighter and smaller.

That's a neat bit of kit. Very compact and easy to set up. You obviously know your knots. Camping gear has definitely improved since I was young. There are some tiny tents and other stuff is just more compact. Ideal for biking.

Hammocks are perfect for my travel needs. They make a comfortable chair, you can also lounge around and even use them for sleep. This one is so much smaller than my old one. I'm actually happy the old one ripped now!

Everything I'm looking to buy now has to be small and light. I've been checking out a lot of backpacker sites, most of those folks use small, light, everything. Trying to take a minimalist approach to all my packing too. This year will be all about downsizing my kit.
