A power pole and the lack of at least one innovative product were the main problems of one of my first clients as a Product Strategist.

I don't normally eat meat of any kind, but if for some reason I'm going to prepare a meal in which meat is one of the ingredients, I always buy it at the butcher shop in Don Benito.

One of those days came almost four years ago when I was starting to offer consulting services in the development of innovative products and business strategies; while one of the workers was delivering my order, Don Benito and I started talking about my new profession.

As I said goodbye, I gave him the first business card I was handing out with the new title of my professional activity.

It is not easy for a company to produce facts that are different from those of its competitors. Different types of actions have to occur and take place at the level of the people in the organization, and at the level of the organization itself. This is costly, time-consuming, resource-consuming, costly and time-consuming for companies, and it consumes resources, expenses or investments in innovative actions.

But we must bear in mind that without continuous innovation, companies tend to disappear from the market, so in order to find a middle ground between the resources that innovation consumes and the resources that it consumes, before continuing to innovate it is preferable to know the real impact of innovation on the consumer.

HIVEBE00003b.png

Although this impact is something that we cannot measure 100%, there are elements that help us to make better and more creative decisions for the development of the next innovative idea. These elements are often the key that makes the difference between businesses.

KEYS

1. THE IDEA MUST BE SYNTHETIC, AND EFFECTIVE.

It must solve something, but that "something" must be well solved in the sense of the number of resources that the consumer perceives have been used. The fewer resources the solution appears to use, the more effective it will be and the more directly it will "stick" in the mind of the consumer or user.

2. THE SOLUTION MUST HAVE "SPARKLE".

It is given by the originality of the product. It is the fine balance between the different and the "not-so-different". It is the magic of an answer. Ingenuity.
These attributes generally relate to the surprise that the product can arouse, the surprise that the vast array of relationships can generate when one links to the solution.

3. THE SOLUTION MUST BE SIMPLE

A product (good or service) that seems too complex is difficult to be thought of. Simplicity is also about the name of the solution, and how it is conveyed.

4. THE SOLUTION MUST CONTAIN SYNERGY AND HARMONY

All the elements of the product or concept must be harmonious with each other. This means that even the details surrounding the concept must contribute something to the overall concept. Many products or ideas may be excellent in themselves, but not innovative from a marketing point of view, for example. In these cases, it is very difficult to make an impact on the idea or product.

5. THE SOLUTION MUST CAPITALIZE ON THE OPPORTUNITY FACTOR.

It is the product launched on time. In the right place at the right time. It is, more than anything else, the product or solution that appears capitalizing on the moment in which it arises and nourishing itself from the place where it appears.
In short, it is about being in the right place at the right time.

6. THE SOLUTION MUST HAVE ELEGANCE AND BEAUTY

It is not a very tangible element, but this factor is related to the necessary emotional approach that the idea must have. The idea must be sympathetic to the sensations, not only to the rational.

The solution must be able to be felt, seen, "smelled", touched. The important thing about this factor is to take into account that the idea must not only be understood. That is to say, it is not enough for the idea to be understood, it must generate an emotion.

7. TOTAL CLARITY

The idea or solution must be easily understood. It must be able to be defined by others with ease, with simplicity, especially when it is with other words.
The success of a solution or idea is based, to a large extent, on the possibility of involving others. The solution, like a mission, must be able to be explained in very few words. The clarity of an idea may be real from a functional point of view, but sometimes it is not understood by the consumer.
Total clarity means that it is also clear to the consumer or user.

Tell me if any of the keys you would like me to develop them further.

These points that I have described have to do with whether the idea or solution that we are proposing or launching to the market is just another idea or whether it really generates some kind of breakthrough in the market.
Something important to remember and to motivate you to make a check-list every time you want to launch or develop something innovative, is that these types of solutions (that somehow generate some kind of breakthrough in the market) are the ones that can promise the greatest benefits regardless of who carries them out.

EXTRA NOTE
**Keep in mind that "innovative" is a category highly linked to the experience of each client, it is useful to reflect on the differences between what the entrepreneur and the market consider "innovative". **

*The proliferation of products makes the need to permanently impact the market with large quantities of ideas a current business need, but this impact will not necessarily have to do with the "target" time axis that exists within the company. Perhaps a "revamped" product for the company is a "highly innovative" product for a certain type of market. *
