5 tips I wish I had known to stop procrastinating

Hello to all the procrastinators reading this post.

I know we've all been there, putting off the most important tasks over and over again, that's called procrastinating (from Latin procrastinare: pro means ahead and crastinus refers to tomorrow) so it refers to leaving for tomorrow what we should do today (totally contrary to the saying "don't leave for tomorrow what you can do today).

Well, don't worry! because today I will give you some useful tips that have helped me to overcome this terrible habit and be more productive.

It's time to get going!

Break the cycle: Procrastination is like a never-ending roller coaster that gradually becomes a habit in our lives. To break this cycle, start by taking the first step. Take that task you've been avoiding and do something about it, even if it's just a small step forward. You will see how that first step motivates you to move forward.

Set clear goals: Define goals that are simple and achievable. Break them down into smaller, more manageable chunks and set realistic deadlines. This will help you stay focused and keep you from postponing tasks and duties indefinitely.

Eliminate all distractions now: Identify what your main distractions are, those that take you away from your tasks and put a stop to them. Turn off cell phone notifications, close unnecessary tabs in your browser and create an environment conducive to work without interruptions.

Find your rhythm: We all have times of the day when we are more or less productive, identify your moment of greatest energy and take advantage of that period of time to perform the tasks you consider most important. Take advantage of this natural impulse to advance in your projects.

Reward yourself: Every achievement, no matter how small, deserves a reward, celebrate your achievements. When completing a task give yourself a small prize or take a short break to recharge your energy. If you recognize your progress little by little you will feel more motivated to keep going.

Stopping procrastinating is a gradual process, that is, little by little you will change this bad habit for one of productivity.

Don't punish yourself if you have relapses, just get back on track and keep moving forward. Pronto verás que sí puedes!

I sincerely hope these tips will be useful to stop procrastinating as they have helped me, and so you start being more productive to achieve all the goals you set for yourself!

Good luck!
