Hi dear hivers!
How have you been?
It’s midweek, and I hope everyone still has the energy to finish this week strong!
Today, I want to share with you how I craved tropical fruits. My taste buds controlled my mood and, as much as I wanted to fight back and just ignore my craving, eventually I gave in.

So in the same scenario with the puto’t kutsinta vendor from my previous blog, I waited for the fruit vendor’s loud shout “papaya!”.
I knew that she would definitely pass by. Rain or shine, she would walk along our street, offering her freshly cut fruits to the potential customers and loyal ones.

I call her “ate” (Filipino term for an older lady). The kind of lady whose authentic smile can brighten your day!.
I told her about my cravings, pineapple and watermelon. So she smiled and told me that the pineapples are sweet showing me the kind of yellow-orange color ones.

Yet she offered if I wanted her to put in some salt with chilli powder. My answer was a big “Yes!”.
While she was cutting the fresh fruits, I observed how she was gracefully doing it. I can tell that she’s been doing it for years already. I could be wrong.

Until I finally asked her to confirm. So she told me that her husband is a person with a disability, so she’s the breadwinner of the family.

The story she shared was without any tone of venting but of love for her husband, her kids, and her family. No wonder her smile was so genuine despite the hard work she does every day.
I can feel that her enduring spirit keeps her going.
The cravings I had led me to a deep conversation with a stranger. I learned about the value of hard work, perseverance, and an enduring spirit.

A small chat and a small thank you went a long way.

Thanks for reading my blog! I appreciate you all for reading.
