Are you aware that King Cobra can be eaten?

Hello Hive Fam,

I'd want to tell you about my experience eating a King Cobra and a Python.

First and foremost, I apologize in advance to those people who are snake lovers.

This happened on March of 2019. My friends invited me to go snake hunting. We walked to a spot along the river that was densely forested with grasses and bamboos. Until one of the guys discovered the snake's track. As a result, we followed it till we arrived to its den.

Unfortunately, it isn't very large. I was initially hesitant to touch it because I'm not used to it and was terrified of being bitten. But afterwards, I chose to let it surround my hands, and even though it wasn't that big, I could feel its pressure. What's more, if it's bigger, there's no way for us to get out.

On the same day, at 6 p.m., some locals killed a King cobra after it bit their cow. It was around 9 feet long. They opted to cook it together with the snake that we caught.
Half of my body was screaming for me to leave at the time, but I decided to stay because I was interested how they would remove the venom.

Here's when it gets interesting.

They actually cut off 6-7 inches starting from its head to avoid including the venom. The head was then buried because it was still deadly due to its mouth, which still had venomous teeth.

After that, they began cutting the remaining edible bits and cooking them using a coconut milk with seasonings and a lot of spice.

I didn't eat immediately away at start. I waited for approximately 30 minutes as they ate it, just in case, but nothing occurred. Even while eating, they couldn't stop laughing. Then I decided to give it a go.

I never imagined that the feared king of snakes could be so tasty, especially if they're spicy and served hot. it taste like a chicken wings or legs. I would eat it again if given the opportunity.

Oh, I am really scared snakes but the some people in my country eat them too.

@sreypov conquer your fear. Well, this is common in Asia and some part of US.

Well, what can I say? This is an adventurous meal, I knew Hivers would have a strong reaction to this. Even though I lived in Cambodia 10 years, I never once encountered a King Cobra. They are very common, and many people in the countryside of Cambodia eat them.

My wife once lived in the bush, and while sleeping in a thatch hut, a King Cobra stopped by to greet her, and gave her the most terrifying experience of her life.

Thank you. I can’t imagine how terrified she was. In Philippines, it’s common to eat snake like python but for King cobra only few people take risk.

That sounds scary hahahahhaa. I've heard about people eating pythons, but I never really seen or heard about a King Cobra being edible, until now. It's hilarious that you waited for some time before you ate it hahahahah, would have done the exact same.

Haha yeah it was really funny that I waited. Of course, I need to make sure that nothing will happen to me so I let them eat it first. 🤣
