Hello again, my fellow Hive users! It's me again, Thata. Following up on my last post, I'll share what happened after we visited Simala Shrine with my siblings.
It was almost 5 p.m. when we arrived home because of the traffic. Traffic was always heavy in the city on weekdays. We rested for about an hour before going to Mactan Newtown in Lapu-Lapu City for dinner. My sister insisted we eat out, and she paid. Actually, she wasn't with us, but she wanted our brothers to make the most of their trip to Cebu before they returned to Bohol the next day.
We ate at Mactan Alfresco; there are many food choices because of the numerous food stalls lined up. One of the reasons we went there was to try Ayers' lechon, as it's supposedly famous. We didn't order much, as we each had our own preferences, but as long as there was lechon, we were happy.
We didn't stay there long because we decided to go to the Mactan Shrine, also in Lapu-Lapu City. It's nearby, so we could walk. The Mactan Shrine is a popular destination; not only is it free, but it's also beautiful and tells the history of the Philippines. I can't give you full details, but one thing for sure is that the shrine symbolizes the Filipinos' bravery and resistance against colonization.
You can see Lapu-Lapu's monument here; he's considered our first hero. Your visit wouldn't be complete without a picture there. (Just kidding—it's up to you!) I remember bringing my child here; he was so happy to see Lapu-Lapu and even sang songs about him. He loves history, and when we got home, he called his grandfather to tell him about what he did and saw. I was so happy then because I saw how much he appreciated the place and Lapu-Lapu's heroism.
We wandered around the shrine, and since Valentine's Day was approaching, we took pictures with the heart-shaped display. We also enjoyed the other things the area offered. Many people visit because it's spacious. There are many activities you can do, like Zumba or sports such as badminton.
We went home early because my brother had an early trip back to Bohol. We stopped to buy some “pasalubong”.
That was indeed a great day for me. I hope you enjoyed reading this post. Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end!
Thank you so much. I hope you liked it.
Love, Thata
