A Simple Barbecue Business Opened My Eyes to the Power of Small Beginnings, Hard work and Quite Acts of Kindness

Good day, my dear hivers! I want to share simple but meaningful story that happened just today. I hope it gives you the same warm feeling and realization it gave me.

My husband’s aunt, whom we call Auntie Nem, borrowed 2,000 pesos from my husband. We didn’t ask her why she needed it. My husband just gave it to her with no question asked. Auntie Nem is not just anyone to us. She helped take care of my husband when he was still a little boy. Now, sometimes we leave our child with her when we have to attend to important things or do transactions. She is someone we truly trust and value.

This morning, I was surprised and amazed to see that she used the money we gave her to start a small barbecue business! She started grilling right outside their house. It made me happy and excited to support her. So immediately bought 200 pesos worth of barbecue as her “Buena mano” (first customer).

She was busy preparing more items to sell, so I volunteered to grill the barbecue I bought. I didn’t mind at all; I was actually happy to help. I cooked it myself while she was still busy making more for her customers.

She sells chicken intestines, chicken legs, hotdog and pork barbecue, all of the, very affordable and delicious! It touched me because I didn’t expect she would use the money as capital and I thought it was for a personal need but instead, she used t to built something.

What inspired me most is her courage to start even with a small amount. She didn’t wait for everything to be perfect, she just started.

She also has a small store in front of their house, but sometimes there’s not much stock. So now, I’m thinking if we get to harvest from the farm again soon, I want to add more of her store. I want to support her in her small business. After all, she never charges us even our child eats snacks or drinks, we only give her vegetables and fruits from our backyard garden.

I even made a simple sauce to pair with the barbecue, I used vinegar, cucumber, chopped onion and chili. Perfect for dipping!

After I finished cooking the barbecue, we went back to the farmhouse. Our table was borrowed by my father-in-law for their meeting, so we eat in the floor and you know what my daughter so happy and had fun.

Sometimes, all someone needs are a small act of kindness to create something bigger. That 2000 pesos might not be a lot for others, but for Auntie Nem, it was the start of her business I learned that it’s not always about how much we give, but how much love, effort and heart the other person puts into what they receive.

I’m truly happy to support someone like her. We need more people like Auntie Nem in this world.

Thank you for reading my story! Let’s continue to support small businesses and appreciate the simple joys in life. Have a blessed day, everyone! ❤️

Yes, me too. with the best sawsawan, so fulfilling. But we know this is unhealthy but so it's okay to eat once in a while.

I love that your family has a really good relationship with your husband's aunt. And congrats to Anty Nem with her new business. The bbq looks good, I am sure more and more customers will support her. I am happy for you guys and thanks for sharing such a nice story for my morning :))
