Anyway, the test was to see if she would try to take some of the food while I was away. When I got back the food hadn't been touched and she was just looking around waiting for me to return.
Must have taken years of training and affection. She definitely trusts you better than many dog owners can claim.
There was only a time or two in her entire life that she took food that was not meant for her and I could tell she knew that she wasn't supposed to do that and was expecting punishment. These days I think I could put a steak on an easily gotten to table for a long period of time and she would just sit on the floor near it and wait to receive some of it. I'll have to try that out one day with a camera pointed at it.
