Binignet is one of the most popular pinoy snacks here in the Philippines. We learned how to cook this with the help of our ancestors and my GrandParents. This is also good for business porpuses and feedings to all children. Back when I was a little boy, I always love to eat binignet and in fact, this was a kind of food that our teachers served and gave to us.
Every feeding activity in our school that time, we are so very excited to eat binignet. This kind of pinoy snacks contains of many varieties of crops and I will share all of the Ingredients as we continue this blog. This pinoy snacks is very nutritious and very perfect for kids or children.
There many different kinds of ingredients of this snacks, and before we begin to cook, first gathered the following Ingredients;
- Brown Sugar
- Coconut Milk or Coconut extract
- Landang
- Sago
- Tapioca
- Sweet Potatoes
- Cassava
- Ripe Bananas
- Sticky Rice
- Lutya
- First, peel the cassava, Ube, Lutya and Sweet potatoes very carefully and sliced it into cube shapes. After that, put all together in a clean water so that it will not turn to color gray. Washed very gently and carefully so that the germs and other dust removed and wash away. The colors of this crops can make the snacks very colorful and have a good textures.
- This is the sticky rice looks like, it contains a very white color and it is really different to other rice we cooked everyday. This can also make as "BIKO" on which the sticky rice will adds more coconut milk and brown sugar. Sticky rice is also good for binignet snacks and this ís one of the ingredients we will add to the snacks. This rice should wash with clean water first before adding it to other recipés.
- We called this one, sago. A varieties of small circle shape and it contains many different kinds of colors just like orange, yellow, violet, green and red. This can give to our recipè a colorful and attractive. Binignet snacks will not be completed without this kind of ingredients.
- We called this one, LANDANG. It is a kind of flakes that can make our recipé turns into slightly pink color. It can make the recipé sticky just like porridge. Well, binignet is a kind of porridge but it contains many kinds of ingredients unlike the pure porridge.
- Next, is the coconut extract or coconut milk. This is also very important if we this kind of pinoy snacks. Even in other dishes that includes coconut milk can make the food tastier and delicious. After extracting it, use the streamer so that the coconut meat will not mix to the coconut extract.
- This is the tapioca and it is good for adding im fruit salad. It is also good for this recipé and it gives a delicious and tastier cook. This should cook very well because it takes a few minutes before it will cook. When we boiled water, with a mix of this tapioca, make sure to stir always until it will cook.
- Brown sugar is very important because it gives a sweet taste of what we cook. Make sure to mix or add a proper or correct proportion of brown sugar so that it will balance the right taste. Make sure that it will stir until the brown sugar will be dissolve.
- Next, is the grinded Gabe crops. This will help to addens the good taste of binignet. If we don't have any grinder, it is also good to use sharp knife so that it will really turn into tiny pieces.
If we gathered all the Ingredients, mix all together and boiled it for many minutes until will cook and it will become sticky.
