sweet. nice to be featured. hopefully some people learn something about bowling, the only sport I do!
I actually went to a smash room once and it was fun for about 30 seconds then it was just kind of boring. The opportunity to hurt yourself is still there despite the safety goggles. broken glass cuts other parts of your body too!
Bowling is still the longest sport I ever formally participated in, all the way from around 6 years old on up to probably like 16 or so. I still miss it, and if every small town here had a bowling alley like back home, I'd probably hit the lanes every night and play "Free Bird" on the jukebox.
Haha, we're getting old when we worry about getting hurt in basically any situation. I'm addicting to running up the stairs, it's almost like an uncontrollable urge, even in formal public situations I will skip two or three steps at a time and leave my homies behind. One day I will get seriously hurt, it's just a matter of time and odds.
I have found that if I over-bowl IE: Go bowling too frequently, that my left knee and the surrounding ligaments and muscles really seriously hurt. I asked a friend to slow down a video of me bowling and it is easy to see why. I twist my knee that is on the ground during release at a really strange and intense angle and knees just weren't meant to handle that sort of "twist". This didn't affect me in my younger years but this is just one of the fun parts about getting old I guess.
Stairs: I remember skipping entire flights of stairs as a youngling. These days I would probably immediately break multiple bones on the first try. A friend of mine who is in her 40's seriously injured herself simply by "using the stairs wrong" when one of the stairs wasn't the same height as the others. She broke 2 toes.... just from using stairs!
Guess we are getting old, haha. Luckily I've never suffered any major bowling injuries. I have embarrassingly stepped passed the line and slipped on the oil before, but in my memory it was a graceful save. I found a short clip someone took of me running up the stairs....
