A friend of mine who was living in Phuket told me stories about how they sealed off certain areas and police wouldn't allow people through. basically you were required to stay in your own subdistricts. The people's compliance went on a timeline like this
- First week they complied
- Second week they found ways around the barricades either via knowing the police or cutting through the jungle
- third week the confrontations with the police begane
- fourth week people began physically breaking through the barricades and ignoring police orders
Thanks @goodream for being engaged in the ASEAN Hive Community.

tokens.I doubt we will ever get to the "breaking through the barricades" portion of that scenario here. For whatever reason (communism?) the people here seem to really respect authority even if the copper is alone, unarmed, radio-less, and 120 lbs.
